About
Herd of Homesteaders

At Herd of Homesteaders, we blend academics with authentic, real-life homesteading experiences, creating a learning environment where curiosity leads the way.

Our enrichment programs teach children essential core academics alongside hands-on homesteading skills—from caring for animals and growing food to sewing, crafting, and cooking. Each day offers opportunities to learn through doing, encouraging critical thinking, independence, and creativity.

We offer weekly themed enrichment experiences for younger learners and academic-focused enrichment classes for older students, all within a loving and nurturing environment designed to help every child thrive.

Children spend much of their time outdoors, developing a strong connection to nature while experiencing learning that’s practical, purposeful, and fun. Through partnerships with local farms and small businesses, our field trips and activities immerse students in authentic, real-world experiences that bring lessons to life beyond the classroom.

Our mission is to provide authentic, real-life experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and connection through hands-on learning and meaningful engagement.

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.

Benjamin Franklin

Hands-On Learning

Children learn best by doing — and at Herd of Homesteaders, every day is an opportunity to explore, create, and discover through real-life experiences. From tending animals and planting gardens to baking bread and crafting handmade goods, our lessons bring learning to life through authentic, purposeful work.

Academic Enrichment

Our programs blend core academics with experiential education. Older students strengthen reading, writing, math, and science skills through project-based learning, while younger learners explore early literacy and numeracy through play, nature, and exploration. Every activity is designed to spark curiosity and deepen understanding.

Nature & Community Connection

We believe learning extends beyond the classroom. Our days are spent outdoors, connecting with the land, animals, and one another. We spend time on our farm and connect with small businesses to give children meaningful, real-world experiences that teach responsibility, gratitude, and community stewardship.
